#MadeForGreatness > Rory versus Li: Epic Duel in Dubai!

Dubai Omega Desert Classic

What a week! What a duel! When I tweeted on the 8th > "Desert Match Play (Swinger) versus LiHaoTong (Putter)". I could not imagine being so predictive! Yes to make cuts you need to putt great but to win even greater as Li birdied four of his last six holes to win by one shot.

(Rory McIlroy was angry with himself after he surrendered a two-shot lead on the back nine to finish second at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic. The Northern Irishman entered day four a shot behind Li Haotong but had caught the Chinese by the turn and a two-shot swing on the tenth put him in pole position for a third title at Emirates Golf Club. A bogey on the 11th, par on the par five 13th after a three-putt and a bogey on the 16th then meant a birdie-birdie finish was not enough. European Tour Transcript)

"The competitor in me is very disappointed right now. I wanted to win. I always want to win - Rory McIlroy"

"The last four holes was some of the best shots in my life so far. Happy to see I can hold a trophy here - Li Haotong"

As you can see on the chart above Li putting stats were just astonishing! > Probably a European Tour Record...

Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship by EGA

#MadeForGreatness #BestOfTheBest UAE hashtags marketing buzz knows how to mark up its social golf scene and more 6 million in appearance fees* to bring on Top the "Best Of the Best" > World n.1 Dustin Johnson, World Famous Rory Mcilroy, n.1 Race to Dubai 2017 and defending Champion > Tommy Fleetwood pairing 36 holes round1 and 2!  This was something I could not miss to follow, monitor and benchmark!

What I learned from these 36 holes closeup, was an exceptional knowledge of better understanding what makes today champions and more why and how Tommy Fleetwood made it back to back win. On day 1, his "SwingScore" made it as low as 58 (One better than Rory) ! More impressive was Tommy putting ratio, despite facing over 500 feet of putting surface, he manages no 3 putts with a 100% In from Zone2 (Short) for a bogey free 66 to co-leading despite being shorter off the tee than Rory and Dustin rocket +300 driving... Was then Putting everything? Probably yes, probably not...

Quotes from Tommy after his last nine holes in 30 to win by 2

"I holed the putts on the back nine, ten, 12, 13, 15, 16, when putts were going in like that, you just feel like, could this be my day again"

Press Releas from Ladies European Tour Média

Céline Herbin, who shot a final round of 64, wasn’t too disappointed at being eliminated with a double-bogey on the 18th hole after finding the water with her third shot. She said: “I mean, it was really a bonus for me to in this play-off today. It was an awesome round for me, my personal best, minus eight and I had nine birdies. I enjoyed it a lot today.“I played very well, really, but so I spent a little bit too much time without playing. I finished earlier and I lost a little bit of rhythm, I would say. I could feel it on the drive and even the 7-iron on the lay-up. “The sand wedge went out of the clubface, but today is a very nice day for me. It’s nice to finish well in this tournament, one of the biggest of the LET and I’m very happy.” > read all > http://ladieseuropeantour.com/american-yin-wins-omega-dubai-ladies-classic-in-riveting-finish/
