French Open Champion and CaddiePlayer founder lead winner
Golf Digest Middle East Editor Win Abu Dhabi World Amateur Tour Inaugural Championship
The amazing Yas Links Golf Club in Abu Dhabi welcomed the 3rd edition of the World Amateur Tour in epic conditions mixing heavy rain, strong winds and storms forcing the players to push their limits to their upmost. With the help of two time Open de France back to back Champion Jean-Francois Remésy and renowned UAE Resident PGA CaddiePlayer founder Stéphane Barras, the competitors made the most of every precious tips and recommendations to lead the rounds and win the leg.
The first round could be named the « birdie day » highlighting the performance of both Kent Gray (New Zealand) and Jacky Casanova (France) tied in first position. Gray scored 3 birdies on the 1st, 4th and 11th while Casanova added a birdie on his card totaling 30 stableford points. Yann Robin (France) ranked 5th on that first day, scored his on the 8th.
Gilbert de Decker (Belgium) and Christophe Chapon (France) tied in 2nd position with a total of 27 stableford points.
UAE resident Golf Digest Middle East Editor Kent Gray with no surprise ends up winning the leg scoring a birdie at the 4th for a total of 33 stableford points followed by Christophe Chapon with 30 points and Jacky Casanova with 27 points and a birdie on hole number 7. Frederic-Paul Goux scored the first eagle of the year and only one of the leg on the 2nd.
