Une carte de 68 pour ce premier tour, c'est vraiment une trés belle entrée en matière?

Oui c’est sûr que c’est une excellente performance et un très bon score sur un parcours aussi sélectif. Nous avons fait plusieurs cartes à -3/-4 récemment et le jeu était en place mais c’est une autre chose que de le refaire face aux meilleurs joueurs européens dans des conditions de jeu peu évidentes.

Cela fait quel effet de voir son nom en haut du leaderboard à l'Open de France?

Plaisir. Mais il faut faire abstraction du score et du classement pour rester concentrer et continuer à prendre les bonnes décisions et exécuter les bons coups. On a bien su le faire tout au long de la journée et j’ai tout fait pour que nous restions le plus calme possible tout en prenant en compte l’adrénaline bien naturelle.

D'autant que pour entrer dans le tournoi vous êtes passé par les qualifications?

Oui nous avons gagné la qualification de Courson avec un score de -4 (sur 18 trous) dans des conditions météo exécrables (vent, pluie). Nous avons appliqué notre stratégie et nous sommes restés patient en attendant que les putts tombent sans jamais nous mettre en danger. C’est beaucoup de travail et de collaboration pour sortir la carte quasi parfaite et jouer le 100ème Open de France.

Que dire de plus?

Nous avions préparé ce tournoi il y a 3 semaines au Golf National en développant une stratégie qui optimise les point forts du jeu de Mathieu et cela a fonctionné aujourd’hui. Nous allons remettre les compteurs à zéro pour demain et tout faire pour recommencer.

US Open Dustin "Tap" Definition Reminder @GolfScience 2012

As FaceBook is reminding me that CaddiePlayer is three years old and 1134 registers to date, Dustin Johnson win his first "Major" and it reminds me that he was part of my putting research back in 2011 and because of him I could not only better understand the "Tap" definition but make it as a part of CaddiePlayer Data and now Teach it as the "PuttZones" system.

The Tap definition (2feet or Zone1) is not only a key to better understand how putting works but also a key distance to work on Putting "Basics". In fact next time you see on TV a "Tap" execution from a Tour Player, pay attention what he does with his right foot!

 Biographies

Karim El Baradie has been a Swiss PGA member since 1982. After studying to become an engineer in electronics, he changed his mind and decided to become a golf professional. After becoming an assistant golf professional in 1983, he became a playing professional. At the end of his first year as a player he won his first out of four Swiss PGA Championship titles. Other wins and one Challenge Tour title (Interlaken Open 1988) would follow. He represented Switzerland in two World Cups (1988-1989) and in six Dunhill Cups (1986-1991), beating Gary Player on the Old Course in 1991 (Medal-Match Play). A serious bicycle accident in 1992 ended his playing career, and he turned to teaching. He has been teaching golf ever since in Switzerland. He has been a member of the Swiss PGA teaching commission for more than 10 years. From 2008 to 2013, he revived his engineering studies, and worked as an advisor and testing machine designer/builder in a new golf technology in development.

Stéphane Barras is a member at the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in Switzerland, home of the Omega European Masters which is run by his relatives. A Swiss PGA member since 1983 and UAE PGA member since 2007. Stephane is the author of the Golf manual “The Difference” and founder of the Institute SBARRAS which was the first golf boarding school in Switzerland (established in 1998), he is the developer of CaddiePlayer (2013) and the PuttZones (2015). In 2009, as a response to golf being back in the Olympics, he was appointed first as the Coach of Zhang Lian Wei (first Chinese golfer to play the Masters) and in 2010 the Head of Zhang Lian Wei Training Academy to Haigeng Olympic Centre in China. In 2012, he presented his paper at the World Science Congress VI “Better understanding putting distance perception and goals” as well as his workshop on the beginner methodology teaching process “GolfPlow”. Now a Performance Manager, Online Coach and Golf consultant Stephane improves putting skills (PuttZones) and course management (CaddiePlayer) to a collection of elite golfers.
